KARACHI: The Consulate of Italy in Karachi hosted the world pasta day celebrations in Karachi with local stakeholders, officials, diplomats and friends of Italy. This year, the World Pasta Day celebrations return to Italy hosted at Fiere di Parma in conjunction with reputable event: “Cibus Tec exhibition” on October 27 and 28 with the participation of industry professionals, institutions, and representatives from across the entire supply chain.

Hence, all Italian missions abroad have been invited by the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, to celebrate World Italian Pasta Day with the aim of promoting pasta as an expression of Italian identity, culture, and manufacturing capability, within the framework of the broader promotion of Italian cuisine “Made in Italy.”

The initiative is coordinated by the International Pasta Organization (IPO), a non-profit organization established in Rome in 2006. The IPO unites pasta-industry associations from 18 countries to promote the awareness and consumption of pasta internationally, while highlighting its nutritional value. The initiative follows in the footsteps of World Pasta Day, celebrated every year on October 25 since 1995, when the first World Pasta Congress was held in Rome with the participation of associations representing pasta makers from all over the world.

The Consul of Italy in Karachi, Mr. Fabrizio Bielli while addressing the guests informed that this is the first time that Consulate of Italy in Karachi is hosting the World Pasta Day after seeing the astounding success of the Italian Cuisine Week celebrations in the vibrant city of Karachi.

The Consulate of Italy aims to organize more such initiatives that promote Italian culture and gastronomy Karachi together with local partners and stakeholders doing business with Italy in the Ho.Re Ca & Food Sector. The Consul expressed that Pakistan has a beautiful way of welcoming the world, and that spirit extends to embracing global cuisines and making them its own.

Whether through traditional recipes or innovative, locally inspired fusion dishes infused with distinctive aromas and flavors, Pakistan demonstrates that good food knows no borders.

Pasta is one of the most internationally recognizable Italian products and a sector of primary importance to the national agri-food system: in 2025, Italy produced approximately 4.2 million tons of pasta, with over 60% destined for export. Its global reach makes it a key vehicle for Italian culture, identity, and conviviality, as well as a hallmark of economic and manufacturing excellence. With more than 350 distinct shapes recognized worldwide, pasta serves as a beautiful metaphor for our diplomatic community. It reminds us that while our traditions and methodologies may differ, our core human needs and aspirations remain identical.
