PADANGSIDIMPUAN: The Chairman of the Indonesian Cyber Media Network (JMSI) of North Sumatra, Rianto S.H., M.H., inaugurated the JMSI board of Tapanuli Southern Region (Tabagsel) at the National Building, Jalan Adam Malik, Padangsidimpuan Utara, on Sunday (27/7/2027).
The inauguration marked the strengthening of the JMSI organization in the southern region of North Sumatra. The event was attended by regional government officials, legislative leaders, police officers, and prominent figures from the press and youth in Tabagsel. Representatives from four regencies and one city in the area were also present.
The newly inaugurated JMSI Tabagsel board consists of:
- Chairman: Ucok Rizal Nasution
- Secretary: Taruna A.L. Lubis
- Treasurer: Zia Ul Haq Nasution
Rianto urged JMSI Tabagsel to become a driving force for healthy and responsible cyber media in the region. He emphasized the importance of upholding journalistic code of ethics and adhering to the organization’s Articles of Association and Bylaws.
“JMSI must be present as a critical and constructive partner, and maintain integrity in presenting information to the public,” said Rianto.
Similar guidance was conveyed by Teguh Santosa, one of the leaders of JMSI North Sumatra. He reminded the regional leadership to not only be symbolic but also actively carry out the organization’s strategic functions and roles at the local level.
Several regional officials attended the inauguration, including:
- Mayor of Padangsidimpuan, represented by Assistant I Rahudin
- Chairman of Padangsidimpuan DPRD, Siti Munawarah Nasution (Golkar Party)
- Deputy Chairman of Padangsidimpuan DPRD, Rusidy Nasution (Gerindra Party)
- Police Chief of Padangsidimpuan, AKBP Wira Prayatna
- Military Commander of 0212/Tapsel or representative
- Police Chiefs of Tapsel, Madina, Paluta, and Palas, each represented
- Representatives from the Regent of Tapsel, Regent of Madina, Regent of Paluta, and Regent of Palas
- Community figure H Syarul Pasaribu
- Chairman of PWI Tabagsel, Kodir Pohan
- Senior journalist, Manaon Lubis
- Youth figure, Fahdriansyah Siregar
The presence of these officials and regional figures reflects their support for the role of media in building communication between the government and the public. They hope JMSI Tabagsel will maintain the dignity of journalism and contribute positively to regional development through balanced reporting.
New Board’s Commitment
The Chairman of JMSI Tabagsel, Ucok Rizal Nasution, expressed gratitude for the trust given to him. He committed to running the organization’s wheels professionally and building healthy collaborations with various parties.
“Cyber media in Tabagsel must become pillars of information that educate, not just convey news. We will work according to the corridors of law and journalistic code of ethics,” he said.
The inauguration of JMSI Tabagsel is expected to be a starting point for the improvement and strengthening of the digital media ecosystem in the Tapanuli Southern Region. This organization is also expected to become a forum for improving the quality and competence of journalists in the face of digital era challenges.
