KARACHI: The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi attended the International Summer Drinks Show by Biz Today International powered by Hamdard Laboratories held at The Wok Hei Restaurant on Saturday, 16 May 2026. The event offered a refreshing experience featuring a variety of creative summer beverages prepared by talented student chefs.

The participants showcased an impressive range of drinks, including lemonades, mint drinks, falsa juice with innovative twists, coconut milk-based milkshakes, and adventurous mocktails and punch drinks made with fruit chunks, citrus juices, sugar, and salt to promote hydration during the hot summer season.
The Consulate team from Perwakilan Karachi also participated in the event by introducing and serving “cendol”, a popular Southeast Asian dessert enjoyed widely in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.

The main judge, Chef Samreen Junaid, evaluated the entries based on presentation, innovation, creativity, and nutritional value. She emphasized that each drink should not only attract attention but also provide nutritional benefits.
The Consul General of Malaysia, Herman Hardynata Ahmad, personally introduced and served cendol prepared by Perwakilan Karachi to guests and contestants. Although it was not part of the competition, the dessert was warmly received by attendees.

“Malaysia enjoys summer all year round, so many of our drinks are summer beverages. Cendol is also a popular dessert not only in Malaysia, but in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand as well,” he explained.
Made with shaved ice, creamy coconut milk, pandan jelly, and rich palm sugar, cendol was described as creamy, sweet, and refreshing perfect for hot weather.
The contestants listened attentively and many took the opportunity to try the cendol. It was also a proud moment for the participants as the Consul General personally tasted and appreciated each of their creations.
