FUJAIRAH: The extraordinary meeting of the Executive Council of World Taekwondo was held today in the Emirate of Fujairah, chaired by H.E. Dr Choue Chung-won, President of World Taekwondo, at Al Bahar Hotel and Resort, on the sidelines of the Fujairah International Open Taekwondo Championships and the Arab Cup Championship. The tournaments are held under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
This meeting marked the first official gathering of the Executive Council members elected during the elections held in the People’s Republic of China, representing an important milestone in the launch of the Council’s new term.
During the meeting, Executive Council members discussed several strategic and organisational matters related to the federation’s future, stressing the importance of this foundational phase in shaping the federation’s institutional framework for the coming period and strengthening its presence and influence on the international stage.
The meeting also addressed several technical and administrative issues related to taekwondo at the global level, including the development of technical regulations and the advancement of approved championships and programmes that support the sport’s international growth and development.
The selection of Fujairah to host this high-level meeting reflects the emirate’s advanced position on the international sports map and the growing global confidence in its ability to organise and host major championships and international meetings, supported by its advanced infrastructure and accumulated expertise in this field.
