KARACHI: The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi organised a media briefing and awareness session to promote Sri Lanka Expo 2027, an international trade exhibition scheduled to take place in Colombo from January 14 to 17, 2027.
Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi, Sanjeewa Pattiwila, briefed media representatives and participants on the objectives of the exhibition, its significance for international trade, and the opportunities it offers to strengthen economic cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. A representative of SriLankan Airlines also participated in the session and provided information regarding air travel and facilities for those planning to attend the exhibition.

The session aimed to familiarise the Pakistani business community, traders, investors, importers and media representatives with the exhibition and encourage their participation in this international business event.
Sri Lanka Expo 2027 will be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. Organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, the exhibition is designed to showcase the country’s export capabilities, promote investment and establish new business partnerships with international markets.

The exhibition is expected to feature a wide range of sectors, including textiles and apparel, tea, spices, coconut-based products, food, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, rubber products, industrial goods, electronics, information technology, logistics and other services.
In addition to product displays, the event will provide opportunities for business-to-business (B2B) meetings, investment discussions and networking between Sri Lankan exporters and international buyers. Fashion shows, culinary demonstrations and cultural activities are also planned as part of the programme.

During the briefing, the SriLankan Airlines representative shared information about travel arrangements and the airline’s role in facilitating the participation of international business visitors. Air travel and accommodation arrangements are important considerations for traders and investors planning to attend the exhibition and explore commercial opportunities in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy longstanding friendly relations, with considerable potential to expand cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, industry and services. Sri Lanka Expo 2027 is expected to provide Pakistani businesses with an opportunity to connect directly with Sri Lankan manufacturers and exporters, explore new products and identify potential partners for joint ventures and commercial agreements.

Participation in the exhibition could also help Pakistani companies explore new sourcing opportunities, strengthen existing business relationships and diversify their international trade networks.
