DUBAI: What a “smurftastic” day at Reem Mall. A special ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted yesterday, 17 July 2025, marking the official opening of the first-ever Smurfs live stage show at Reem Mall, Abu Dhabi.
The event was honoured by the presence of Mr Joren Selleslaghs, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Belgium to the United Arab Emirates, who joined Reem Mall Director Mr Bruce von Kaufmann, and other esteemed guests for this symbolic moment. With Papa Smurf and Smurfette by their side, the ribbon was cut, officially inviting guests to dive into the magical world of the Smurfs.
Commenting on the occasion, Reem Mall Director Mr Bruce von Kaufmann says: “Today we are absolutely thrilled to launch the Smurfs Takeover here at Reem Mall alongside our esteemed guest Mr Joren Selleslaghs, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Belgium to the United Arab Emirates, bringing these beloved characters and their enchanting world to Abu Dhabi. The “Smurftastic Science Fair” stage show takes guests on a 25-minute adventure with Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy Smurf and Hefty Smurf as they invent something extraordinary to win the coveted prize-cup. The show runs three times daily at 2:30 pm, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Entry is free, so guests are encouraged to arrive early for the best spot and a chance for a meet-and-greet with Papa Smurf and Smurfette!
For more smurfy fun, children can explore the Magic Forest Activity Area from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm daily. Here, young explorers can discover Papa Smurfs house, enjoy games like an AR magic mirror that transforms them into a Smurf, solve puzzles, get crafty and even navigate a mirror maze. Access to the activity area is available by presenting a Reem Mall receipt with a minimum AED 250 spend. Furthermore, guests with valid receipts stand a chance to win complimentary tickets to watch the all-new Smurfs movie at VOX Cinemas in Reem Mall.
