DUBAI: The Sustainability and Innovation Centre of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) welcomed a high-level delegation headed by HE Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Energy in Brunei Darussalam. The officials at the centre briefed the visiting delegation on the latest advancements in clean and renewable energy. They also highlighted Dubai’s ongoing efforts to accelerate sustainability and energy transformation, along with DEWA’s projects supporting net zero and diversification of energy sources. These include the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world, with a production capacity of more than 5,000MW by 2030.
The delegation learned about the centre’s efforts in building capacity and competencies in various areas of renewable and clean energy, making it a global incubator of innovation and a major landmark in Dubai. It serves as a key destination for those wishing to explore the latest innovations in renewable and clean energy technologies. Using Metaverse technology, the Centre, located at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, provided the delegation with a unique experience, taking them on a virtual journey around the solar park.

The Sustainability and Innovation Centre supports DEWA’s efforts to achieve the vision of wise leadership and promotes a sustainable energy future in Dubai and internationally. It enhances the competitiveness of the UAE and Dubai as a destination for innovators from around the world, and as a global hub for shaping and designing a sustainable future. In line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050, the Centre is consolidating clean technology innovations by sharing knowledge and encouraging investment in this area. It concludes strategic partnerships with major local and international institutions, universities and start-ups to provide accredited professional certification programmes to keep pace with emerging trends, refine professionals’ capacities and expand their knowledge and technical and practical expertise in clean and renewable energy.
The delegation praised the contributions of the Sustainability and Innovation Centre in raising awareness about state-of-the-art renewable and clean energy technologies and commended the pioneering interactive scientific experiences it offers to visitors, making it an ideal destination for those passionate about creating a future where everyone enjoys a safe and sustainable energy supply.
