KARACHI: The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) hosted a landmark MoU Signing Ceremony oWednesday, 17 June 2026 at the CIME Multipurpose Hall, AKU, Karachi, announcing the introduction of two advanced robotic surgery systems—Toumai® (MicroPort MedBot™) for multi-specialty surgical procedures and CORI™ (Smith+Nephew) for orthopaedic knee replacement. The ceremony was led by Dr Farhat Abbas, Chief Executive Officer, AKUH, who signed the agreements on behalf of the institution, marking a major step forward in advancing minimally invasive surgical care in Pakistan.
The event also featured Dr Saleem Islam, Chair, Department of Surgery, AKUH, and Dr Mansoor Ali Khan, Chair, Department of Orthopaedics, AKUH, who highlighted the clinical impact of these technologies in enhancing precision, improving patient recovery, and expanding access to cutting-edge procedures across multiple specialties. Surgical robotic procedures are expected to commence in the coming months, further strengthening AKUH’s commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare delivery.
