Malaysia Joins ASEAN Village 2026 Closing Ceremony at Punjab University Lahore

ISLAMABAD: On 23 May 2026, H.E. Amb. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, participated in the Closing Ceremony of the Online Internship Programme (OIP) / ASEAN Village Programme held at the University of the Punjab, Lahore.

The programme was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Islamabad in its capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI), with the participation and support of ASEAN Missions in Pakistan and the University of the Punjab.

During the event, the High Commissioner highlighted the importance of dialogue, cultural understanding and regional cooperation in strengthening people-to-people ties between ASEAN and Pakistan. He also commended the active participation and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students throughout the programme.

Malaysia added a lively and vibrant atmosphere to the ASEAN Village celebration through a series of cultural and culinary presentations. The Malaysian segment featured popular songs by Siti Nurhaliza, including performances accompanied by traditional joget dance presentations, which received warm appreciation from visitors and participants.

Malaysia also showcased a dedicated food and cultural booth featuring Laksa Johor, live cooking of Mee Goreng Mamak, Cucur Sayur and Teh Tarik, offering guests an opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of Malaysian cuisine and culture.

The event concluded with appreciation extended to the Embassy of Indonesia, fellow ASEAN Missions, organisers, the University of the Punjab and all participants for contributing towards the success of the programme.
