RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued a stern warning against engaging with unlicensed campaigns and misleading advertisements frequently found on social media platforms.

The Ministry emphasized that obtaining an official Hajj permit is the only guarantee of performing the pilgrimage safely and legally.  These permits are vital for organizing crowd movement and preventing dangerous overcrowding, which directly enhances the quality of services provided to all pilgrims.

The Saudi Ministry further noted that violations not only affect the individuals involved but also compromise the safety of others and the operational efficiency of the Holy Sites. Consequently, the Ministry underscored that violating these regulations subjects offenders to strict statutory penalties.

Authorities have renewed their call for everyone to verify the legitimacy of any Hajj campaign and ensure a permit has been issued before making any financial payments. Coordination with security agencies remains ongoing to track down promoters of fraudulent campaigns and protect pilgrims from falling victim to scams.
