Strategic Engagement to Bolster Malaysia–Pakistan Economic Cooperation

KARACHI: On 30 June 2025, an engagement was held between His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, and Mr. Usman Ahmed, Group Chief Executive Officer of Gamalux Oleochemicals. The meeting was convened to explore avenues for strengthening economic cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan, in anticipation of the forthcoming official visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Shehbaz Sharif to Malaysia.

The meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest, including bilateral business facilitation, investment opportunities within the oleochemical sector, and the revitalized role of the Malaysia–Pakistan Business Council (MPBC) as a platform for advancing strategic commercial engagement.

Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening Malaysia–Pakistan economic relations through sectoral cooperation, institutional reforms, and targeted investment initiatives. Ambassador Dato’ Azhar Mazlan underscored Malaysia’s continued support for private sector collaboration as a catalyst for sustainable growth, while Mr. Usman Ahmed emphasized the importance of cross-border industrial development, citing Gamalux’s trajectory as a model of innovation and bilateral success.

This engagement highlights the enduring commitment of both countries to fostering inclusive economic growth, strengthening institutional linkages, and building a resilient and forward-looking Malaysia–Pakistan economic partnership.
