Gerry’s Group signs agreement with ConnectHear

Gerry’s Group, have recently joined hands with ConnectHear to be the first travel facilitation company in Pakistan to facilitate the Deaf or Hard of Hearing community with inclusive solutions in their Visa Application centres throughout Pakistan.

As per the WHO, currently, more than 1.5 billion people (nearly 15% of the global population) live with disabilities. 430 million of them have disabling hearing loss.

With so much of our lives online, people who are Deaf or experience hearing loss may feel alienated from several activities, such as going to work, communicating with friends and family, travelling or even applying for a visa.

Since its inception, ConnectHear has aimed to increase inclusion, accessibility, and independence for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing in their everyday lives through the provision of virtual sign language interpretation services.

The partnership aims to bridge the communication gap between the Deaf/ Hard of hearing and hearing community by providing easy and virtual access, on one platform and application, for sign language interpretation at Gerry’s Visa Application Centres.

“Gerry’s Group’s mission is to serve and give our community the power to bring the world closer together — and that includes People with Disabilities. We are pleased to work with ConnectHear for the empowerment of Sign Language through their technology at our Visa Application centres, for the benefit of every customer. Through our initiatives, we look forward to building an inclusive Pakistan!” said Ali Kamal, Chief Operating Officer, at Gerry’s Visa. Gerry’s Group is a renowned group in Pakistan for the past 50 + years and proudly holds to its profile a diversified portfolio of business alliances which include FedEx, Gerry’s Visa, Gerry’s Travels, etc. Gerry’s Group is also partners in Pakistan with many global operators including Costa Coffee, IHOP, dnata, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates Airlines Group, Air France and KLM, amongst many others.
