Smart, Safe & Sustainable Building Technologies & Proptech Convention at Build Asia Exhibition at Expo Centre

Concerned Engineers, Architects, Town Planners and Tech Professionals along with landtrack.pk and Magna Engineering Pvt Ltd initiated knowledge dissemination Convention on “Smart, Safe & sustainable Building Technologies” and “Proptech”.

The application of technology and innovation to real estate came late compared to all the other industries involved in the global digital revolution. With the modernization of the world around them, millennials require everything to operate quickly and efficiently, including the real estate market. As a result, this property technology is catching up with the other digital industries.

Engr. Naeem Khanani, CEO Magna Engineering Pvt Ltd  introduced and explained that Proptech or Property technology is a set of technologies accelerating the processes of renting, buying, selling, and management of buildings. Proptech examples include solutions that operate on big data, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), Internet of Things (IoT), 5G, and blockchain.

Pakistan has a great potential of estimated earning USD 200 Million through exports of  proptech based services like  virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) , Building Information Modelling (BIM) , Metaverse and IT enabled engineering BPO. Engineering graduates, IT professionals and gaming industry can change the landscape of proptech exports from Pakistan.

The core  purpose of this convention is to provide a platform to all stake holders for their brainstorming and unleashing the potential of Proptech exports from Pakistan. Federal IT Minister to consider Proptech Convention recommendations for scaling up exports related with Proptech.  

Organizing this  convention on Smart, Safe and sustainable building technologies is to provide an opportunity to all relevant stake holders to build and operate buildings at optimal level of natural lighting, air circulation with energy efficiency for lighting and HVAC systems. Carbon foot print per square feet area to be designed in such a way that leads to net zero. At present there are about 18 to 20 buildings in Pakistan which are LEED Certified and registered with the US Green Building Council. Since our textile industry is export oriented that’s why textile industry is well prepared and well acquainted with Net Zero and sustainable industrial buildings.    

Prof. Dr. Noman Ahmed highlighted the housing approaches for sustainability in Pakistan. Engr. Fahim Siddiqui, CEO FND, expressed his expert opinion on MEP challenges for smart, safe and sustainable buildings which ultimately equivalent to high performance buildings.

Dr.Sohail Khan from Sino Pak Centre of Artificial Intelligence at PAF IAST discussed use cases of Artificial intelligence for Smart buildings. Awais Nadeem from FAST Cables informed audience that low smoke zero halogen cables are qualified for LEED Certification and explained the benefits of low smoke zero halogen cables. Kamal Amjad Mian, MD Fast Cables expressed his views on sustainable building materials and its role for developing sustainable buildings

Nauman Vawda, CEO iVolve Technologies launched HYPER NEXT Computing services in Pakistan in competition with Amazon Web service and Azure, offering world class service at competitive rates. Rizwan Adhia, CEO Riz Electric introduced smart home automation.         

A special track on Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT)  provided an opportunity for developers to raise capital for  their real estate development and infrastructure projects, which will boost up construction industry. CEO of leading REIT Management companies like M. Ejaz of Arif Habib Dolmen REIT informed that despite bullish market Globe Residence REIT, first development REIT in Pakistan issue is oversubscribed. Ali Asghar, CEO of TPL RMC and Umer Ghani Veritas RMC also participated at panel discussion on REIT present and future –An exciting journey which was moderated by Engr. Naeem Khanani, CEO Magna Engineering Pvt Limited.        

A leading expert from housing Mr. Zaigham Rizvi discussed the need of affordable housing models in detail. Nadeem Hussain of Planet N, Jehan Ara of catalyst Lab and former Chairman PASHA highlighted the role of IT in every walk of life and specially emerging role in real estate or Property Tech (Proptech).Junaid Imam, MD Pakistan Software Export Board highlighted the potential of IT exports from Pakistan and informed the measures which are recently taken by IT Ministry and PSEB. Shan Agha, CEO Azad Properties made comparison of real estate development in Pakistan and Turkey. Fahim Siddique, Bureau Chief GEO News deliberated the role of media to promote property technology to boost real estate development. Ar. Naqi Ejaz, CEO MIMAR informed the audience about AR/ VR and Meta verse  visualization services and offered practical demo at AR/VR studio at Convention site.
