Dietmar Kacnik claims Champion at 23rd Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup

32 players participated in the 23rd Dubai Duty Free Senior’s Cup held at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Saturday, 9th October. The event hosted by the Dubai Duty Free consisted of various divisions, the Senior’s Division (50 years of age and above) and Super Senior’s (65 years of age and above).

In hot and humid conditions, Arabian Ranches Golf Club member Dietmar Kacnik (9) posted a brilliant 41 Stableford points to be crowned the overall champion in the Individual Stableford event format.

Dietmar Kacnik coped best in the humid conditions, to post an outward half of 23 points with 5 net birdies on his card. He kept his cool on the back nine where he posted a further 18 points with the only blemish on the card coming at the tenth hole where he made 0 points. 41points was enough, taking victory by 1 point, with Dubai Hills Golf Club Shabir Yakub (10) finishing second on 40 points in the overall event.

Shabir Yakub (10) did take the victory in the Senior Division with his 40 points, with Arabian Ranches Golf Club member Thomas Stumpp (7) taking the runner-up spot on 37 points.

In the Super-Senior’s Division, Emirates Golf Club Member Sultan Mahmood (16) took the victory by 4 points from the nearest competitor, Arabian Ranches member T.R Vijayan (17) who finished on 33 points.

Commenting on the Dubai Duty Free Senior’s Cup, Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman & CEO of Dubai Duty Free said: “This year marks the 23rd running of Dubai Duty Free Senior’s Cup and the tournament has concluded what has been a good year to date, for Dubai Duty Free. Our thanks to all our participants and to the Arabian Ranches Golf Club for their efforts in ensuring a great day was had by all.”

With the best gross prize on offer, Jumeirah Golf Estates member Mark McNeilly (+2) took the victory with an outstanding one over par 73 gross. Mark’s scorecard consisted of an outward 34 and inward 39. An impressive two gross birdies in his round, with birdies coming at the 3rd and the 8th hole. Mark kept his cool all the way through the round and scrambled well to post only gross bogeys on the back nine.

McLoughlin presented the trophies to the winners along with Salah Tahlak, Executive Vice President – Corporate Services and Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President – Marketing.
