KARACHI: The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi commemorated the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence together with the Indonesian community and their families in Sindh Province. The celebration featured a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by a reception with Indonesian cultural performance, and a culinary bazaar.

The event was also attended by Pakistani government representatives, ASEAN and other diplomatic missions and business partners. The Government of Pakistan was represented by H.E. Mr. Irfan Soomro, DG of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liaison Office (FALO) in Karachi, as Chief Guest. Also present were the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Consul Generals from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka, and Honorary Consul Generals of Ethiopia, Morocco, Yemen and the Philippines.

Prizes for the community were generously supported by IBM, PIBCN, Emirates Airline, Polani Travel, Westbury Group, PIBF, Indomie, Mehran Enterprises, M.H. Panhwar Farms, and Imtiaz Supermarket, reflecting the close friendship between KJRI Karachi and its local partners.
In his remarks, the Consul General of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Mudzakir, highlighted the longstanding brotherly relations between Indonesia and Pakistan and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people relations.
As Chief Guest, H.E. Mr. Irfan Soomro recalled the close ties established by the founding fathers of both countries and emphasized that this historical bond remains an important foundation for advancing economic cooperation, business linkages, and closer relations between the peoples of Indonesia and Pakistan.
The distinguished guests conveyed their appreciation and admiration for the flag ceremony and the showcase of Indonesian culinary and cultural offerings. They further expressed the hope that bilateral relations between the two nations will be further enhanced across multiple sectors in the future.
