DUBAI: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully renewed its ISO 37301:2021 certification in compliance management, which it originally obtained in 2023. As one of the first organisations globally and locally to earn this distinction, DEWA’s latest achievement underscores the robustness and maturity of its compliance framework.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, was awarded the certificate at DEWA headquarters, in the presence of Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and Dr Ali Almuwaijei, Vice President of Governance & Compliance at DEWA.
“We work in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve the highest levels of government work. Guided by the Eight Principles of Dubai and the UAE’s strategic objectives, DEWA is proud to be an early adopter of world-class compliance standards. By embracing world-class frameworks, we advance corporate governance, ensure sustainability and reinforce transparency and regulatory responsibility. At DEWA, we attach utmost importance to compliance as one of the basic pillars of our institutional culture. Through innovation and operational excellence, we ensure all compliance requirements are comprehensively met, reflecting our commitment to enhance consumer confidence and uphold DEWA’s reputation as a trusted and transparent entity,” said Al Tayer.
DEWA has built a unified, fully digital compliance management ecosystem powered by automated processes and smart dashboards. This integrated platform delivers real-time insights to top management, enabling proactive risk analysis, trend forecasting and data-driven decision-making. Instant digital reports enhance oversight and risk mitigation, improve predictive analysis and drive operational excellence, strengthening DEWA’s position as a global leader in regulatory compliance.
Bin Salman pointed out that no violations were recorded throughout 2024. This achievement reflects DEWA’s unwavering commitment to the highest standards of governance, compliance and regulatory discipline. Continuous monitoring and rigorous internal controls ensure every operation aligns with legal and ethical frameworks, preventing any breaches.
By automating and digitising its compliance framework, DEWA has reduced manual interventions and fostered a more efficient and collaborative environment, paving the way for a scalable framework that readily adapts to evolving regulatory requirements, anticipates future challenges and ensures long-term sustainability.
