KARACHI: Raqami Islamic Digital Bank Limited, Pakistan’s first Shariah-compliant digital retail bank regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), today announced that it has achieved compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
The milestone confirms that Raqami stores, processes and transmits cardholder data under the same rigorous controls required of leading banks and payment companies worldwide.

Mr. Umair Aijaz
What PCI DSS Means: PCI DSS is the global security standard set by the PCI Security Standards Council, founded by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and JCB. It applies to any organisation that handles payment card data.
What It Means for Customers: For Raqami customers, PCI DSS compliance translates into tangible, everyday protection:
Safer card payments. Every debit card transaction online, in-store or in-app is processed in an environment independently verified to global standards.
Protected personal data. Card numbers and sensitive details are encrypted and never exposed in readable form.
Lower fraud risk. Continuous monitoring helps detect and stop suspicious activity before it affects customers.
Confidence to bank digitally. Customers can use Raqami’s app and cards knowing the bank is held to the same bar as the world’s leading financial institutions.
Global acceptance with confidence. Compliance strengthens Raqami’s standing with international card networks and merchants.

Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Umair Aijaz, President & Chief Executive Officer, Raqami Islamic Digital Bank, said, “Trust is the foundation of banking, and in digital banking it must be earned with every tap and every transaction. Achieving PCI DSS compliance is a clear signal to our customers that their money and their data are protected to the highest international standard. It reflects our promise to deliver banking that is not only Shariah-compliant and convenient, but secure by design.”
Building Lasting Trust: PCI DSS compliance builds on Raqami’s existing ISO/IEC 27001 certification for information security management, and supports the bank’s alignment with the State Bank of Pakistan’s cybersecurity and technology risk requirements. Together, these independently verified standards form a layered security framework covering the bank’s people, processes and technology.
