ASEAN Friendship Bowling Tournament 2025 Marks Third Edition, Strengthening ASEAN–Pakistan Ties

KARACHI: The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi successfully hosted the ASEAN Friendship Bowling Tournament 2025 on Saturday, 23 August 2025. It was the third instalment of this annual tradition since 2023, in commemoration of ASEAN Day on 8 August. The tournament took place at Royal Rodale, DHA,  showcasing camaraderie, cultural diplomacy and people-to-people engagement.

This year’s tournament included, for the first time, a team from the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office (FALO), Karachi, further strengthening the growing spirit of cooperation and friendship between ASEAN and Pakistan.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Irfan Soomro, Director General of FALO Karachi, who served as Special Guest and inaugurated the tournament with the ceremonial first throw and continue as one of the players.

Teams representing the Consulate General of Malaysia, the Consulate General of Indonesia, the Royal Thai Consulate, the Vietnam Trade Office, the Honorary Consulate of the Philippines and FALO Karachi competed in a day of spirited play. Winners across the team, men’s and women’s categories were presented with trophies and prizes in a celebratory award ceremony, with a special highlight being the presentation of the Golden Egg Prize.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Herman Hardynata Ahmad, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, said, “this tournament is more than a sporting competition — it is a reflection of ASEAN’s unity in diversity. By welcoming our friends from FALO, we also reaffirm ASEAN’s commitment to building closer ties with Pakistan through friendship, goodwill and shared experiences.”

The tournament concluded with a lunch reception and the presentation of appreciation plaques to ASEAN colleagues, FALO representatives and partners for their contributions.

The ASEAN Friendship Bowling Tournament 2025 once again highlighted ASEAN’s enduring commitment to unity while reinforcing its valued partnership with Pakistan.
