In a visionary step toward digital governance, the Government of Sindh has launched its first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI) training program for government officials, signaling a national breakthrough in public sector innovation.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Planning & Development Department through a two-day interactive hands-on training for officers of BPS-17 to BPS-20, focusing on real-world applications of AI for governance, service delivery, automation, and policy enhancement.

Leading this landmark session were Ammara Aftab, Pakistan’s first female Artificial Intelligence trainer, founder of Pro AI Global – Global AI Community, and a national voice for AI adoption, alongside Faraz Hussain Buriro, Vice President of Pro AI Global and CEO of Pak GPT.

Ammara Aftab, a trailblazer in the AI space, has been delivering training across Pakistan for the past three years, including the first-ever AI workshop for lawyers in Pakistan. Her leadership at Pro AI Global, a fast-growing international AI community, has empowered government officers, corporate leaders, and policymakers alike. Her inclusion in this program reflects the Government of Sindh’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to women-led innovation.

During the training, officers engaged in hands-on activities using advanced tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, and explored how departments can harness AI to optimize performance, transparency, and citizen engagement.

This initiative is being hailed as a model for AI-enabled governance and marks Sindh as a leading province in digital transformation and smart public administration.
