Sri Lankan Consulate Celebrates Sinhala & Tamil New Year 2025 in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sri Lanka Consulate in Karachi, together with the Sri Lankan community in Sindh province, Pakistan, celebrated the Sinhala & Tamil New Year on 20 April 2025 at the IQRA University premises in Karachi, with the participation of Sri Lankan nationals and Pakistani guests.

The event featured traditional Avurudu games, the serving of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, distribution of gifts to the winners of the games, a raffle draw, and a vibrant musical evening.

In his address, Consul General Jagath Abeywarna emphasized that gatherings like these not only strengthen the bonds within the Sri Lankan community abroad but also serve as a meaningful platform to promote friendship and cultural understanding between Sri Lanka and Pakistan through the sharing of traditions and heritage.
