RIGA: According to Riga Airport, in 2020 Latvian airline airBaltic has maintained its market leader position, by carrying 57% of all passengers to the Latvian capital. In 2020, the airline carried 1.14 million passengers to and from Riga.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “Despite the disruption caused by the pandemic and a total stop of flying for 62 days, we maintained our market leader position, connecting Baltics to the world and preparing for return to future growth. We introduced a single type fleet, launched various new sustainability projects and laid groundwork to increase our maintenance capabilities for the future.”

airBaltic also showed its commitment to both Estonia and Lithuania, by continuing to serve both countries in market conditions, where traffic volumes decreased significantly. In Tallinn, airBaltic improved its market share from 21% to 27% in 2020, while in Vilnius it grew from 9% to 14% in 2020.

The safety and health of our passengers is airBaltic’s top priority. airBaltic has introduced strong health measures and the flight operations follow the recommendations issued by authorities.
