Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) have signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower freelancers across the country, with the enhanced banking services and the strengthening of the freelancing ecosystem in the country.
The agreement was signed by Faisal Malik, Head HBL Konnect, and Dr. Imran Batada Global CIO Award Winner. President, PAFLA, in the presence of Muhammad Nassir Salim, President and CEO – HBL, Aalishaan Zaidi, Head Retail, HBL, and Ibrahim Amin, Co-founder and Chairman, PAFLA, Fahad Sheikh – Cofounder, PAFLA & Farheen Fatima – Chief Growth & Strategy, PAFLA along with senior officials from both organizations.
Under the agreement, HBL will facilitate PAFLA members by providing them with specialized banking products, foreign currency accounts, international payment solutions, and digital banking services.
PAFLA and HBL will take initiatives to support freelancers for upskilling through financial literacy workshops, educational sessions, and professional-development programs. Both organizations will supporting sustainable entrepreneurship, income growth, and economic empowerment among freelancers across Pakistan.
Both organizations will strengthen Pakistan’s freelancing ecosystem through joint events, community engagement, industry partnerships, and awareness initiatives.
Commenting on the occasion, Chairman PAFLA Ibrahim Amin said that freelancers are becoming an integral part of the digital economy, contributing handsomely to bring in foreign exchange in the country; creating jobs and reducing unemployment in the country.
The role of banking institutions is important to facilitate freelancers not only with their banking services, but with their initiatives to promote initiatives such as skill development and financial literacy, he added.
There are nearly 3 million freelancers in Pakistan, making the country the fourth biggest freelancing market in the world.
