Indonesia Medica: From Pavilion to Partnerships, Three MoUs Project USD 625 Million in Trade Transactions

KARACHI: Indonesia Medica at Health Asia Expo & Conference 2026 moved from pavilion promotion and business engagement to concrete partnerships. Three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Indonesian and Pakistani partners were signed at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi during the Business Dinner in Honor of the Delegates of Indonesia Medica. The signings marked concrete outcomes from three days of engagement at Health Asia 2026.

The three MoUs were signed respectively between Indonesia’s HIPELKI and the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP); PT Borden Eagle Indonesia and Muller & Phipps Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd.; and PT Tele Sehat Indonesia and Educast Global Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd.

Together, the three MoUs carry a combined indicative value of USD 625 million in projected trade transactions.

“These three MoUs are important not simply because documents are being signed, but because they demonstrate three things we want to see more often: stronger links between our industry institutions, more direct partnerships between our companies, and a willingness to translate promising conversations into practical cooperation,” Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir said.

The signings built on the high-level engagement surrounding Indonesia’s participation in Health Asia 2026. At the opening of the exhibition, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Health, H.E. Syed Mustafa Kamal, who inaugurated Health Asia 2026, visited Indonesia Medica and joined a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Indonesian Pavilion. His presence added positive momentum to efforts to expand healthcare cooperation and Indonesia’s commercial presence in Pakistan.

The HIPELKI-HDAP MoU establishes an institutional framework to be followed by a practical Plan of Action. Areas already identified include business matching and reciprocal market access, industry and regulatory information exchange, capacity building, R&D, technology transfer, production machinery and manufacturing cooperation, joint ventures, local manufacturing and digital health. HIPELKI represents around 250 stakeholders across Indonesia’s medical-device ecosystem, while HDAP represents approximately 300 Pakistani importers and manufacturers.

The other two MoUs broaden the outcomes to the business-to-business level. The partnerships between PT Borden Eagle Indonesia and Muller & Phipps Pakistan, and between PT Tele Sehat Indonesia and Educast Global Pakistan, reflect growing direct links between Indonesian and Pakistani companies and are expected to create further commercial opportunities and sustainable partnerships.

“For the Consulate General, this is precisely the purpose of economic diplomacy. Our role is not only to organize events or introduce people. It is to create the right connections, help open doors, build confidence between partners, and support promising discussions until they become sustainable business relationships,” Mudzakir said.

The Business Dinner was attended by HIPELKI Secretary General Sigit Mohammad Nuzul, HDAP Chairman Dr. Syed Omer Ahmad, Health Asia Expo and Conference Co-Founder Dr. Zakiullah, Health Asia Project Director Farhan Anis of E-Commerce Gateway, representatives of the companies signing the MoUs, Indonesian delegates, and Pakistani healthcare business leaders and partners.

The Consulate General views Indonesia Medica as more than an exhibition platform. Following Health Asia, it will continue to follow up the contacts, meetings and understandings developed during the event together with relevant ministries, HIPELKI, HDAP, E-Commerce Gateway, participating companies and Pakistani partners, including through targeted business matching and company-to-company follow-up.

The Consulate General also hopes Indonesia Medica can grow into a regular Indonesian platform at future editions of Health Asia, bringing more companies, broader business networks and more concrete commercial outcomes.

“Health Asia may be concluding, but we hope this evening opens a new chapter – one in which the connections made here develop into lasting partnerships and tangible results for Indonesia and Pakistan,” Mudzakir said.
