KARACHI: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s Music Committee organised a classical music-based “Musical Baithak” at the Haseena Moin Hall, drawing a large number of artists, literary figures, and music enthusiasts. Renowned classical vocalist Ustad Fateh Ali Khan captivated the audience with a mesmerising performance. He began with Raag Vanti and went on to present Basant Bahar and a thumri, winning hearts with his masterful rendition.
Fellow artists Ustad Farhan Rais Khan and Izzat Fateh Ali Khan also delivered impressive performances, showcasing the richness of classical music. The event was attended by Music Committee Chairman Amjad Hussain Shah, Special Events Committee Chairman Iqbal Latif, Aroosa Ali, Director Admin Shakeel Khan, along with several prominent personalities from the artistic and social spheres.
The event was hosted by Nauman Khan. Speaking on the occasion, Amjad Hussain Shah expressed his gratitude to Ahmed Shah for organizing such a memorable event. He emphasized that gatherings like these not only promote fine arts but also help people stay connected with their cultural roots and traditions. He further highlighted that classical music is a refined and sophisticated art form that requires a deep sense of appreciation and sensitivity. “Legends like Khan Sahib are invaluable assets to our cultural heritage,” he said, adding that such artists have elevated the art form to great heights both locally and internationally.
Ustad Farhan Rais Khan also shared his views, noting that although many events have been held at the venue, it was the first time a classical music gathering of this kind had taken place there. He appreciated Ahmed Shah’s initiative, stating that it provides young artists with a valuable platform to learn and refine their skills. He added that such events not only encourage performers but also play a vital role in the promotion of classical music. Expressing gratitude to his teachers, he credited their guidance and mentorship for his achievements.
