DUBAI: The UAE Food Bank has distributed 5,000 meals among workers from across Dubai in a single-day scaled outreach drive, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to social cohesion, food security, and inclusive community engagement. The drive was organized in collaboration with Majid Al Futtaim, an Emirati-owned, diversified lifestyle conglomerate with operations across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and Majra, the UAE Federal Government Entity dedicated to supporting the Private Sector in amplifying their impact in the space of CSR, ESG and sustainability.
The UAE Food Bank plays a central role in advancing the Nation’s food security objectives and promoting a culture of responsible consumption and humanitarian solidarity. The large-scale distribution drive, reflects the organisation’s mandate to transform surplus into sustainable social impact through structured partnerships and community outreach initiatives.
The expansion from 3,000 to 5,000 beneficiaries this year – highlights the growing impact of coordinated cross-sector collaboration. By bringing together federal entities, corporate partners, and civil society, the initiative exemplifies how structured partnerships can deliver scalable, community-centred solutions that advance food security while reinforcing the UAE’s model of sustainable humanitarian action.
His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Majra, affirmed that the UAE, under the guidance of its wise leadership, has established a pioneering model in charitable and humanitarian work — one built on sustainability, community partnership, and maximising impact. In this context, Majra is committed to building meaningful partnerships with the private sector to develop new initiatives that contribute to community development and enhance the quality of life for citizens and residents across the UAE.
His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq added: “The collaboration between Majra, Majid Al Futtaim, and the UAE Food Bank represents a practical example of the integration of efforts and joint action between government entities, the private sector, and humanitarian initiatives to maximise the positive impact of community initiatives. It also ensures that resources are utilised responsibly to support food security and strengthen the values of solidarity and social cohesion, reinforcing the UAE’s approach to supporting society and reflecting the country’s ongoing commitment to promoting generosity and social responsibility.”
Manal Obaid bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team of the UAE Food Bank, said: “The initiative reflects the UAE Food Bank’s commitment to transforming structured partnerships into measurable social impact. The distribution of meals to 5,000 workers in a coordinated initiative of this scale demonstrates how surplus food redistribution, cross-sector collaboration, and responsible resource management can directly advance national food security objectives while strengthening social cohesion. Through partnerships with leading entities such as Majid Al Futtaim and Majra, we continue to expand our capacity to deliver sustainable, community-centred solutions that align humanitarian outreach with ESG principles and long-term national development goals.”
Ahmed Galal Ismail, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Holding, said: “This year’s outreach reflects what is possible when government entities, the private sector and community organisations work together with a shared purpose. Partnering with the UAE Food Bank and Majra to support the distribution of 5,000 meals demonstrates the strength of coordinated action. By combining our capabilities, we were able to reach more people than ever before and contribute to the UAE’s ongoing efforts to enhance food security, social cohesion and responsible resource use.”
This initiative reflects the UAE’s broader vision of embedding social responsibility within national development — where public institutions, private sector leaders, and civil society work in alignment to strengthen social cohesion and sustainable growth.
