DUBAI/KARACHI: The Consulate of Italy in Karachi hosted an iftar dinner. The Consul of Italy in Karachi, Mr. Fabrizio Bielli welcomed the esteemed dignitaries: government officials, diplomats and friends of Italy in Karachi to commemorate the holy month of Ramadan and promote interfaith harmony.
The Honorable Governor Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori attended the Iftar dinner.
Consul Fabrizio Bielli in his speech stated that he is deeply proud to celebrate the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan – a cherished tradition on this blessed occasion. This year, my wife and I have also decided to celebrate the true spirit of Ramadan by observing the fast in true spirit together with our Pakistani friends.
Fasting is a combination of the physical and the spiritual struggle’. The physical difficulties that come about from the sacrifices of abstinence from food, drink, and other enjoyments of life enable the soul to attain spiritual enhancement. On the same token, the soul’s burning passion for spiritual enhancement is what encourages the body to undertake such hardships upon itself.
The holy month of Ramadan is a clear reflection of this very concept. It entails sacrifice of the mind and body while enriching one’s soul to advocate goodness, mannerism, humility, and generosity.
Consul Bielli hoped that this Ramadan, which is coinciding with Nowruz, Holi, Chinese New year and Easter period, brings health, prosperity, happiness to all of mankind and may these initiatives make this world a better place with our conscious efforts and mindfulness to promote peace and tolerance.
