KARACHI: DIB Pakistan formally marked the opening of the 18th International Inter School Annual Rowing Regatta at the Karachi Boat Club, reaffirming its commitment to youth development, community engagement, and the promotion of healthy, values-driven lifestyles through sport.
The opening ceremony featured a traditional row-past by participating teams, followed by addresses from the President and Captain of Boats of the Karachi Boat Club, and the official oath-taking by young athletes. The ceremony underscored the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, and fair competition that the Regatta has come to represent over nearly two decades.
Commenting on this partnership, Muhammad Ali Gulfaraz, CEO, DIB Pakistan, highlighted the Bank’s belief in sport as a powerful platform for character-building and leadership development among youth.
“Sport plays a critical role in shaping confident, disciplined, and socially responsible individuals,” said Muhammad Ali Gulfaraz. “At DIB Pakistan, we believe that investing in platforms like the International Inter School Rowing Regatta is an investment in the future of our youth. Rowing requires teamwork, discipline, physical fitness and resilience; values that resonate beyond the water into all aspects of life.”
The Regatta brings together more than 600 student athletes from over 25 schools, universities, and clubs from Pakistan and abroad, fostering cross-cultural exchange and international sporting camaraderie while it continues to strengthen Pakistan’s presence on the regional and global rowing calendar.
