DUBAI: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), held discussions with Gordon Thomson, President for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Cisco, on deepening strategic collaboration across digital transformation, advanced technology and cyber security.

The meeting was attended by Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA; Omar Al Mansoori, Chief Operating Officer of Innovation and the Future at DEWA; and Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Data Hub Integrated Solutions (Moro).

Al Tayer welcomed the delegation reaffirming DEWA’s commitment to exchange best practices and cutting-edge technologies with global leading IT companies.

He highlighted key projects in DEWA’s comprehensive digital transformation journey and its deployment of the latest Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI), to support the vision of the wise leadership in building a sustainable, innovation-led digital future. These efforts, Al Tayer noted, underpin DEWA’s endeavours to become the world’s first AI-native utility.

He emphasised DEWA’s pivotal role in supporting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, where robust and intelligent digital infrastructure is paramount.

The discussions centred on exchanging expertise in areas such as networking, secure connectivity, innovation and AI to support DEWA’s ambitious digital road map. The meeting also discussed the existing co-operation between DEWA and Cisco, particularly in digital infrastructure projects implemented by DEWA through Moro, which uses Cisco solutions and products. Moro is an accredited partner of the Cisco Managed Services Programme. The two sides are also collaborating on developing observability solutions hosted in Moro’s green data centres. Key areas of focus also included advancing DEWA’s smart grid initiatives and exploring innovative solutions for data centre optimisation and cloud strategies.

Thomson commended DEWA’s pioneering role in the digital utilities sector and its global leadership across key performance indicators.
