MUSCAT: SalamAir, Oman’s Low-Cost Carrier, has officially opened ticket sales for its new non-stop service between Muscat and Vienna, establishing the first direct scheduled air connection between the Sultanate of Oman and Austria. Scheduled to commence on 24 June 2026, the route represents a key milestone in SalamAir’s international expansion and provides travelers with a direct flight between Oman and Central Europe.
The launch of the Muscat–Vienna service supports national aviation and tourism objectives under Oman Vision 2040, contributing to increased international connectivity, inbound tourism, and economic diversification, while strengthening Oman’s position as a regional gateway linking Europe with Asia and the Middle East.
Vienna, Austria’s capital, is a prominent European center for culture, business, and tourism, distinguished by its historic landmarks and year-round beauty. The new route also enables Austrian travelers to access Oman directly, offering opportunities to explore the Sultanate’s natural diversity, cultural heritage, and expanding tourism offerings.
The service will operate three times a week using SalamAir’s Airbus A321 fleet, delivering a modern and efficient travel experience.
Commenting on the sales launch, Steven Allen, Chief Commercial Officer of SalamAir, said: “The addition of Vienna reflects our focused approach to network growth in Europe. Austria is a growing market for both inbound and outbound travel, and this non-stop service allows us to meet demand with a competitive, cost-efficient offering. With fares starting from as low OMR 69, the route opens a new travel corridor which is also supported by seamless onward connectivity via our home in Muscat to our network.”
Welcoming the new service, Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, said: “Direct flights to Muscat are a major milestone for our route network, for Austria as a tourism destination and for Vienna Airport’s international positioning. Oman is one of the most exciting destinations in the Middle East, offering a unique blend of culture, nature and future growth potential. With SalamAir, we are opening up this market for the first time with a non-stop connection from Vienna. This not only strengthens our international offering but also underlines Vienna’s attractiveness as a gateway to new and emerging markets.”
Through its hub in Muscat, SalamAir will offer onward connections from Vienna to key destinations across Asia and the Middle East, including Bangkok, Colombo, Mumbai, Chittagong, Baku, Karachi, Multan, Sialkot, and Salalah.
Tickets are now available for booking via SalamAir’s website and mobile application.
