BERLIN: The Supervisory Board of Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH has appointed Dr. Jürgen Amann (53) as the new Managing Director for Destination Marketing & Commercial, succeeding Burkhard Kieker. Amann, who has been head of KölnTourismus GmbH since February 2020, will take up his new position on 1 June 2026. Dr. Amann, who holds a PhD in economic geography, was selected from a field of more than 100 applicants. Born in Upper Bavaria, Amann’s career has taken him from Ingolstadt and Dresden to Cologne. Managing Director Burkhard Kieker, who has held his position since 2009, will retire upon reaching the official retirement age when his contract expires in summer 2026.

Together with Co-Managing Director Sabine Wendt, the two will form a strong leadership team to further develop Berlin as one of the world’s leading destinations.
