KARACHI: In lieu of the 10th Edition of the World Week of Italian Cuisine, the Consulate of Italy in Karachi organized an exclusive Culinary Master Class featuring Italian Chef Vincenzo De Liso at Habitt City.
The event attracted a distinguished audience of culinary experts, food enthusiasts, and professionals from the HORECA (Hotel/Restaurant/Catering) sector, offering a unique opportunity to explore Italy’s rich culinary heritage.
Chef Vincenzo De Liso led a live culinary demonstration entitled “Gelato and Coffee,” highlighting the artisanal gelato industry’s commitment to upholding Italian food traditions. Through this event, the Chef emphasized the importance of promoting quality, artisanship, and innovation in the culinary world. Furthermore, the master class aimed to inspire young people, instilling a deeper understanding of Italian gastronomy while creating professional opportunities in an expanding sector.
In partnership with local company and partner for the event: “Blue Mountain Trading”, the session delved into the art of Italian gelato making, with participants gaining insight into the distinct differences between gelato and traditional ice cream. The hands-on experience allowed attendees to savour unique gelato flavours, ensuring an unforgettable culinary journey.
The carefully curated menu began with the authentic Italian Affogato, made with premium Caffè Carraro, followed by a selection of freshly prepared gelato, generously sponsored by MEC3. Guests were treated to a variety of artisanal gelato, including the exquisite Gianduia Gelato, a signature specialty from the Piemonte region. The experience culminated in the indulgence of Pasta Nocciola Gelato, a smooth and creamy blend of roasted hazelnuts, exemplifying the quintessential Italian classic.
Italy’s coffee supply chain remains a cornerstone of the nation’s agro-food exports, with Italian coffee production accounting for a quarter of Europe’s roasted coffee. As the third-largest export sector in Italy’s agro-food industry, valued at over €2.5 billion, Italian coffee enjoys strong demand in European and US markets. Pakistan represents a promising opportunity for Italian coffee exports, and Italian expertise can significantly contribute to the growth, quality, and sustainability of Pakistan’s emerging coffee sector.
