MUSCAT: Reinforcing its position as Oman’s low-cost carrier and in line with its ongoing expansion strategy, SalamAir is proud to announce the launch of its newest destination, Abha in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia starting 16th December 2025. Ticket sales will commence on 6th November 2025, offering travelers the opportunity to secure seats early with Lite fares starting from 29.99 OMR. Known for its cool mountain climate, lush green landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, Abha is one of Saudi Arabia’s most popular highland destinations, often referred to as the “City of Fog” and the summer capital of the Kingdom. This milestone further strengthens air connectivity within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and underscores the airline’s commitment to offering affordable and accessible travel options across the region.
The launch of the Muscat–Abha service follows SalamAir’s strong performance in 2025 and the recent arrival of its 15th aircraft, the Airbus A321neo “Barr Al-Hikman”. Abha becomes SalamAir’s fifth destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, complementing existing services to Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina, and Dammam, and further cementing the airline’s presence in this key regional market.
Commenting on the expansion, Steven Allen, Chief Commercial Officer of SalamAir, said: “We are delighted to add Abha as our fifth destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This new route demonstrates our ongoing commitment to strengthening links between Oman and the wider GCC, while opening new opportunities for tourism and trade. The Kingdom is a strategic market for SalamAir, and we look forward to continuing to grow our presence in a growing and dynamic market”.
In addition to the four direct connections between Muscat and Abha, the new route will seamlessly connect passengers to SalamAir’s expanding network across the Indian subcontinent, GCC, and Salalah, offering convenient one-stop options for travelers between these regions.
With this expansion, SalamAir continues to consolidate its role as a key enabler of Oman’s aviation and tourism sectors, delivering affordable connectivity, unlocking new markets, and reinforcing the Sultanate’s position as a regional hub in line with Oman Vision 2040.
