Flag Hoisting Ceremony to Mark the 68th Anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence in Karachi

KARACHI: The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi held a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony today at its premises to commemorate the 68th Anniversary of the Independence of Malaysia, celebrated under the national theme “Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni” (Malaysia Madani: A Nation Cares for Its People).

The event began with the ceremonial raising of the Jalur Gemilang, Malaysia’s national flag, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku. The ceremony was attended by Malaysians residing in Karachi, friends of Malaysia, and members of the local community, who came together to share in the spirit of unity and patriotism.

In his address, H.E. Herman Hardynata Ahmad, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, highlighted the significance of the occasion, recalling the sacrifices of Malaysia’s founding generation in achieving independence, and reaffirming the commitment of Malaysians abroad to uphold the values of peace, inclusivity, and compassion espoused in the Malaysia Madani vision.

The event was attended by students, Malaysian community residing in Karachi with their families and esteemed friends of Malaysia. The diverse attendance demonstrated the strong bilateral relations and people-to-people connections that Malaysia and Pakistan share. As part of the celebrations, attendees were treated to a feast of Malaysian delicacies, allowing them to savor the unique flavors of Malaysia.

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi expressed its gratitude to all attendees for making the Flag Hoisting Ceremony a resounding success. The event not only celebrated Malaysia’s accomplishments but also reinforced the shared values of friendship, cooperation, and progress.

The ceremony concluded with a recitation of prayers for the continued peace, prosperity, and unity of Malaysia, followed by a community gathering with traditional Malaysian refreshments.
