SUKKUR: In a significant move to improve healthcare access in Sindh, Dawood Global Foundation (DGF), in collaboration with Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), distributed a total of 140 wheelchairs to government hospitals in the districts of Ghotki, Sukkur, and Khairpur.
A special distribution ceremony was held at the District Health Office (DHO) in Sukkur, Sindh, and was attended by key representatives from both organizations as well as district health officials. This initiative forms part of DGF’s nationwide commitment to provide 10,000 wheelchairs to those in need across Pakistan.
Under this specific distribution, 100 wheelchairs were allocated to District Ghotki, 20 wheelchairs to District Sukkur, and 20 wheelchairs to District Khairpur. The wheelchairs will play a vital role in improving mobility, comfort, and overall patient care in public health facilities within these districts.
Present at the ceremony were Mr. Muhammad Majid Memon, representative of Dawood Global Foundation, and Mr. Syed Qamar Uz Zaman, Regional Coordinator, OGDCL Sukkur. Also in attendance were senior health officials, including: Mr. Sheeraz Ali, KMC, Civil Hospital Khairpur, Dr. Zahid Malik, GMC, Sukkur Hospital, Dr. Bisharat Ahmed ADHO, Sukkur. Their presence demonstrated the strong public-private partnership aimed at uplifting healthcare services at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Muhammad Majid Memon expressed DGF’s ongoing commitment to supporting patients across Pakistan. He remarked that access to basic medical equipment like wheelchairs can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those recovering in public hospitals. He praised the collaborative efforts with OGDCL and extended gratitude to the district health departments for their continuous service to the community.
Mr. Syed Qamar Uz Zaman highlighted OGDCL’s focus on social responsibility and community development. He reiterated that the organization remains committed to supporting healthcare infrastructure and working alongside organizations like Dawood Global Foundation to deliver real impact.
