KARACHI: In a significant step toward improving community health services, a new Comprehensive Community Care Centre (C4) was officially inaugurated in UC Madina Colony, District East, Karachi. The initiative, led by LRS Consulting and supported by the Rotary International, District Health Office (DHO) District East, TVI, Nestlé Pakistan, and Pharmatec Pakistan, marks a major milestone in expanding access to quality primary and preventive healthcare at the grassroots level.
The health facility was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Aziz Memon, Chair Polio Plus Pakistan, Ms. Melissa Corkum, Chief Polio Team Pakistan, Dr. Zahid Solangi, District Health Officer (DHO) District East, and. Community members, healthcare professionals, and partner organizations were present to celebrate the launch of this vital service hub.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of Rotarians from France and Belgium, who joined the ceremony to show their solidarity and ongoing commitment to public health in Pakistan. Their participation added great value to the occasion, and they graciously assured their continued support in strengthening immunization programs, advancing maternal and child health, and expanding community-based healthcare interventions in the region.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Aziz Memon emphasized the importance of integrated health initiatives in sustaining polio eradication efforts and strengthening public health infrastructure. Ms. Melissa Corkum reiterated the Polio Program’s vision of leveraging local partnerships to support immunization and routine health coverage for vulnerable populations. Dr. Zahid Solangi highlighted the DHO’s commitment to decentralizing healthcare and ensuring that essential services reach underserved communities.
The Comprehensive Community Care Centre is designed to deliver outpatient services (OPD), routine immunization, health screening, and polio vaccination for children under five years of age. By bringing essential services directly to the community, the centre aims to reduce the burden on distant hospitals, which often become overcrowded with cases that can be managed at the primary level. This localized care model not only enhances health outcomes but also enables higher coverage for immunization and disease prevention.
Equipped with modern medical equipment and staffed by trained healthcare professionals, the facility will serve as a model for collaborative, community-centered healthcare delivery. It will also act as a focal point for health education, disease awareness, and preventive strategies tailored to local needs.
This initiative reflects the shared vision of public and private stakeholders to invest in sustainable health systems that empower communities and contribute to long-term health resilience.
