HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received a high-level delegation from Siemens Energy. The delegation included Anne-Laure de Chammard, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy AG, and Dietmar Siersdorfer, Managing Director of Siemens Energy Middle East and UAE. This supports DEWA’s efforts to enhance cooperation with its strategic partners and exchange best practices and experiences with major global companies. Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, attended the meeting.

Al Tayer said that DEWA strives to achieve the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership to anticipate the future and develop long-term proactive plans to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and innovate disruptive technologies that contribute to providing world-class services that enhance the quality of life in Dubai.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s strategic projects in renewable and clean energy to achieve the vision and directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of Dubai’s total power production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050. Through its major projects, DEWA is implementing promising clean and renewable energy and water desalination projects in line with its vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation committed to achieving Net-Zero by 2050. DEWA attaches great importance to research and development in sustainability and renewable energy, especially photovoltaic and concentrated solar energy. This supports the Dubai Innovation Strategy, which aims to make Dubai the most innovative city in the world.

One of DEWA’s key projects to achieve these goals is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. It will have a production capacity of 5,000 megawatts by 2030.

“As a strategic partner to DEWA, we are proud of our accomplishments and collaborations over the years. Siemens Energy’s technologies contribute to over 42% of DEWA’s total generation capacity, ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for more than 3.5 million residents in Dubai. Together, we have developed the first and only operational, industrial-scale green hydrogen production facility in the Middle East and Africa. We look forward to growing this partnership in the future to expand the scope and scale of our innovative collaboration,” said Anne-Laure de Chammard,

DEWA has a strategic partnership with Siemens Energy, which dates back over 30 years, especially in technological solutions for energy production, and other areas, including R&D in energy technologies, including energy production and energy storage, and smart grids. DEWA also has strategic partnerships with global companies and organisations in integrating renewable energy and distributed generation in the electricity grid, the Internet of Things (IoT), using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in energy production units, energy efficiency, cybersecurity, robotics, and smart buildings. These partnerships aim to build national capacities in the energy sector.
