Dubai Duty Free Foundation and Dubai Cares renew partnership for another 3 years

The Dubai Duty Free Foundation has renewed its partnership with Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), for another 3 years with the signing of a new  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership, which began in 2017, will see Dubai Duty Free Foundation continue to support the efforts of Dubai Cares, a UAE-based global philanthropic organization, to provide children and youth in developing countries with access to quality education.

As part of the agreement, Dubai Duty Free Foundation will donate AED 1.5 million to Dubai Cares annually for a period of 3 years, thereby supporting the organization’s efforts towards helping achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for children and youth and promote lifelong learning by 2030.

The agreement was signed at Dubai Duty Free Foundation’s Head Office by Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Duty Free and H.E. Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Cares.

Commenting on the MoU signing, Colm McLoughlin said, “We are delighted to renew our partnership with Dubai Cares through this MoU to continue supporting their educational programs that will benefit children and young people in underprivileged communities around the world. We will also continue working with them closely to identify specific initiatives that tie in with our own Foundation’s objectives.”

Highlighting the significance of this partnership, H.E. Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Cares, said: “Purpose-driven collaboration sits at the heart of philanthropic impact and partnerships with entities such as the Dubai Duty Free Foundation are crucial to helping Dubai Cares’ further its efforts to position education at the core of our Sustainable Development Goals. Also present at the MoU signing was Dr. Bernard Creed, Senior Vice President – Finance, Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President – Marketing, Olympia Pineda, Manager – Corporate Responsibility Department along with Zainab Faraidooni, Deputy Director – Donor Relations and Partnerships at Dubai Cares.

The Dubai Duty Free Foundation, which was established in October 2004 and is under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, has supported a number of Dubai Cares programs across different countries around the world since 2017.

Over the past fifteen years, Dubai Cares has been working towards providing children and youth in developing countries with access to quality education and has successfully launched education programs reaching over 21 million beneficiaries in 60 developing countries, to date. The organization is now actively advocating for global education transformation for people and planet as a key driver of human development. Partnerships with the Dubai Duty Free Foundation help Dubai Cares advance this mandate by supporting the organization’s programmatic, research and advocacy efforts.
