Ajman Tourism reviews the results of the tourism sector in 2022

The Ajman Department of Tourism Development, presided by its Director General His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, held its annual meeting with a number of hotel general managers in the emirate to review the key performance indicators of the tourism sector in 2022, as well as well as the department’s strategies and marketing and promotions roadmap of 2023.

The parties discussed the results that were achieved in the hospitality sector in the past year and which came as a result of the strong collaboration between the public and private sectors, and the solid marketing plans that were set by the Ajman Department of Tourism Development.

According to 2022 figures and in comparison with year 2021, the hospitality sector in Ajman witnessed a 9% overall revenue growth, a 26% increase in the number of foreign visitors, and a 14% increase in the average room rates.

During the meeting, His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, listened to the suggestions and proposals of the directors to improve tourism services and support this vital sector, and stressed on the importance of the collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve the common strategic goals.

As for investments in hotels, the emirate of Ajman succeeded in attracting many new projects such as the recent 5-star Zoya Health & Wellbeing Resort, in addition to the reopening of the newly renovated Ajman Museum and Masfout Museum, and other touristic projects.

His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi stated: “The emirate of Ajman is witnessing continuous growth and development in all its sectors, especially in tourism, due to the endless support of its government and the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, and the supervision of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, on the progress of all projects carried out by the department on both local and international levels, in addition to renewing its strategies to align with the sustainable vision of Ajman’s government for the tourism sector.”

Alhashmi ensured that investors in the tourism sectors are considered as key partners in the process of tourism development, and for that the department holds regular meetings with them to coordinate on hospitality matters and develop hotels and touristic destinations as they are the trigger for tourism growth across the world. On the other hand, the emirate of Ajman continues to establish the essential pillars of the travel and tourism sector, in addition to reinforcing its cooperation with strategic partners, and targeting regional and global markets that export large numbers of tourists through its active participation in international forums and exhibitions that are associated with trade and tourism.
