AFAD Turkiye provides Humanitarian Assistance to Pakistani Flood affectees

DUBAI/KARACHI/ISTANBUL: Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) are planning to dispatch humanitarian aid packages including 50 thousand tents and 500 thousand food and cleaning boxes to Pakistani Flood effected areas, through especially established Air Bridge and organized Kindness Train transportations in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of National Defense.

250 thousand of 500 thousand boxes prepared by Governor’s Offices and Municipalities of all 81 cities of the country and the rest will be prepared with the support of different Turkish NGOs.

In order to dispatch humanitarian aid items to the region, “Goodness Train Expeditions” were established in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and an “Air Bridge” was established in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense.

As of 02.10.2022, humanitarian aid items have been provided to the region, including 14 planes, 13 Goodness Trains and procurement from Pakistan Local Market.

The dispatching of the 15th plane which is going to carry malaria pills, tetanus vaccines, etc. medical supplies to the region has planned. The first humanitarian aid plane to reach Pakistan on 28 August 2022 after the flood disaster was sent from Turkey.

32 personnel (17 AFAD personnel, 3 Health teams and 10 NGO representatives, 2 Academicians) took part in Pakistan to coordinate the distribution of aid materials sent by our Presidency to the region and to assist in the establishment of tent cities.

Humanitarian aid works carried out by Turkey, under the coordination of AFAD Presidency, to heal the wounds of Pakistan will continue.
