Media Regulatory Office of Ministry of Culture and Youth to participate in ADIBF 2022

The Media Regulatory Office of the Ministry of Culture and Youth will participate in the 31st edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which will be held from May 23 to 29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The book fair is organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, operating under the Department of Culture and Tourism- Abu Dhabi.

At the bookfair, the Media Regulatory Office will showcase its various services and explore new partnerships with various stakeholders to facilitate transactions for customers in different relevant categories.

His Excellency Dr. Rashid Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Media Regulatory Office, said: “Our participation in this session of the book fair will be of a different nature. We are looking forward to new partnerships and signing new agreements. We shall launch the digital version of the self-follow-up programme for media content.”

He added that the Media Regulatory Office will provide on-the-spot services to exhibitors and visitors with the help of its media content team and a licensing officer present at the exhibition. There will be specialised workshops  on “Media Content Standards and Age Classification” that will introduce the public to how  content standards are maintained in publishing. There will be an interactive workshop on “Literary Agent and Its Features” with a selection of publishing houses and business owners operating in the field.

The Media Regulatory Office comprises two main departments, namely the Media Regulations Department, which handles research and forward-looking studies related to the field of media, and is responsible for drafting legislation, regulations, standards and foundations for the organisation.

The Licensing and Media Content Follow Up Department takes care of licensing of media and related activities, and the management of licenses and follow-up on media content. It is also responsible for applying legislation, regulations and standards on media services and media content.

The office’s terms of reference include the department of media organisation, licensing management and follow-up of media content. These also include the follow-up with television and radio stations and broadcast systems for visual and audio programming in free zones and beyond. It applies the necessary measures in the event of violation of media licenses and media and advertising content.
