Renowned Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan took to the Jubilee Stage at Expo 2020 Dubai on Thursday (24 February) amid thunderous applause, and performed his soulful Sufi song, ‘Maula Tera Noor’, to the delight of the audience.
The accomplished singer, songwriter and composer belted out one hit after another, from romantic singles, popular classics and Sufi verses to Bollywood chart-toppers, and kept the audience entertained with his captivating performance. Fans sang along to the popular lyrics of ‘Mitwa’, ‘Aankhon Ke Saagar’, ‘Bin Teray’, ‘Mora Saiyaan’, and many more.
Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan belongs to the Patiala Gharana tradition of music, dating back to the mid-19th century, and hails from a prominent family of musicians and vocalists. He started his training in music at the age of four, and has carried forward his family’s musical legacy, collaborating with Coke Studio Pakistan and MTV Unplugged India, and singing on Bollywood movie soundtracks. He was also awarded the Pride of Performance Award, the highest literary civil award of Pakistan, making him the sixth member of his family to receive it.
