Mick Cairns wins 27th Dubai Duty Free Golf Cup

The rolling fairways of the Fire Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates played host to the 27th annual Dubai Duty Free Golf Cup on Friday, 11th June. On what was a hot and humid day in Dubai, 88 players took to the field in search for the Dubai Duty Free Cup.

Champion golfer on the day was decided with a countback, the coveted title went to Mick Cairns with a scintillating 44 points, with three gross birdies during his first 10 holes helped him along nicely, before making a birdie for 4 points on his last hole of the day. With the champion golfer crowned it was on to the men’s division: in third place was Sam Kent with 41 points, in second place with 44 points was Alan McNamara. Also scoring 44 points and after a card playoff the winner of the mens division was Arjun Khanna. 

Commenting on the tournament, Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Colm McLoughlin said: “We are delighted with the turnout for the 27th anniversary of the Dubai Duty Free Golf Cup and congratulations to all the winners. Thanks to the team at Jumeirah Golf Estates for ensuring a safe and well organised event and I am glad that everyone enjoyed the day despite the hot weather condition.”

In the Ladies Division, Michelle Walsh-Hall came in third place with 34 points, in second place with 37 points was Mitsuko Emmerson. The Ladies division winner was won by Jacqueline De Vries with a fantastic score of 39 points.

The Seniors division was a fiercely fought contest, which saw Mohammed Al Mosharrekh being named the winner with a wonderful score of 43 points. 

Carl Downham took charge in the Gross division with a score of 69 (-3) and Vedant Pal won the Junior Division with 33 points.

Winner of the Ladies nearest to the pin on hole fourteen was won by Mitsuko Emmerson and Michelle Walsh-Hall won the ladies longest drive on hole seven. In the Gents contest Deepak Jain won the nearest to the Pin on hole eight and Scott Spurgeon won the longest drive on hole eighteen.
