Dubai Chamber presents 36 companies with CSR Label in H2-2020

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has presented 36 companies with the Dubai Chamber CSR Label for their outstanding CSR efforts in the second half of 2020.

The Chamber recently hosted a virtual ceremony showcasing the companies’ achievements in corporate social responsibility (CSR), which was attended by representatives from the recognised organisations. In total, the Chamber has awarded 467 labels to companies since the programme was launched in 2010.

Among the honourees, Emirates Gas received the Dubai Chamber CSR Label for the 10th time overall, including the Dubai Chamber Advanced CSR Label for the second time. Emrill Services and Mashreq Bank were presented with the Label for the ninth time. Zulekha Hospital, Apparel Group, Chalhoub Group, Enova, Information Fort, and MAB Facilities Management received the Label for the eighth time. It was also the third time that Zulekha Hospital earned the Advanced Label and the first time for Apparel Group and Chalhoub Group.

EMPOWER and AF Construction were awarded the Label for the seventh time, while EMPOWER also received the Advanced Label for the third time. TECOM Group, ASGC Construction, Centena Group, Dar Al Tawreeq Forfaiting and Factoring Services, Roads and Transport Authority, School Transport Services and Tristar Group were presented with the Label for the fifth time. TECOM Group also received the Advanced Label for the 3rd time and School Transport Services earned the Dubai Chamber CSR Label – Workplace for the first time.

Emirates District Cooling (Emicool), Future Pipe Industries, National Bank of Fujairah and Corporate Business Services received the Label for the 4th time, while Corporate Business Services was honoured with the  Dubai Chamber CSR Label – Environment for the first time.

Dubai World Trade Centre received the Label for the third time. Himatrix Group, DGrade, HP Inc., Dabur International, and Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) were awarded for the second time, while Himatrix Group received the Dubai Chamber Advanced CSR Label for the first time. Dabur International earned the Dubai Chamber CSR Label – Workplace and Dubai Chamber CSR Label – Marketplace for the second time. EGA also claimed the Dubai Chamber CSR Label – Community for the first time.

Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel – Oman, Michelin AIM and, Procter and Gamble Middle East awarded the label for the first time, in addition to Global Indian International School Abu Dhabi and Vision Valley received the Dubai Chamber CSR Label – Workplace , as well as Ixsa Trading, Phoenix Contact Middle East and The Box Self Storage Services, were awarded the Dubai Chamber CSR Label- Environment for the first time.

In his welcome remarks, H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman of Dubai Chamber, congratulated all the awarded companies and praised their strong commitment to CSR and sustainability. He described

the Dubai Chamber CSR Label as a framework and development tool to help companies evaluate their CSR strategies, gain recognition for their efforts and improve their reputation and noted that the benefits of participating go far beyond recognition.

“During these unprecedented times, CSR has proven to be a very useful tool  for businesses that have successfully navigated new challenges. More companies in Dubai have become consistent and systematic in their approach to CSR, while they are also aligning CSR with business strategies,” said H.E. Al Shirawi, who added that 467 labels have been awarded by Dubai Chamber to date.

Awarded companies were applauded by Dubai Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business for their initiatives and commitment to supporting and developing their CSR activities. Companies that apply to the programme benefit from detailed assessment reports on their workplace environmental and social impact, which analyse strategies and regulations and help organisations implement better CSR policies and practices.

Founded in 2004, the Dubai Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) is the first institution of its kind in the UAE that plays a leading role in promoting corporate social responsibility. The Centre encourages member companies of the Chamber to adopt responsible business practices, which ultimately enhance their performance and competitiveness.
