The Dubai Chamber Sustainability Network Road Safety Task Force recently organised a webinar joined by member companies and industry experts, which raised awareness about road safety among the local business community.
The virtual event, attended by more than 90 participants representing 27 companies in the UAE, focused on tips to avoid driving distractions, identifying and avoiding road hazards and the importance of tyre safety and maintenance in order to prevent road accidents.
The webinar featured presentations from Thomas Edelmann, Founder and Managing Director, Road Safety UAE; M.S. Sridhar, Group HSEQ & Sustainability Manager, Tristar Group; and Khalid Al-Ramahi, Customer Engineering Support, Michelin AIM.
Dr. Belaid Rettab, Senior Director, Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development Sector, Dubai Chamber, stressed the importance of keeping the business community informed about road safety issues. He noted that according to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.35 million people die each year globally as a result of road traffic accidents.
“The Road Safety Seminars organised by the Chamber over the years have achieved great success and participation since the launch of the Road Safety Task Force in 2014. Dubai Chamber’s Sustainability Network is committed to raising the private sector’s awareness about sustainable practices and enhancing the reputation of its companies as responsible and sustainable companies in their activities and procedures,” said Dr. Rettab.
The Dubai Chamber Sustainability Network Road Safety Task Force includes 27 member companies. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Road Safety UAE support the task force as knowledge partners.
Established by the Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB), the Dubai Chamber Sustainability Network serves as the focal point for the business community to share and exchange best practices in implementing CSR and sustainability. The network provides an opportunity for local companies to network, learn, share experiences and constitute CSR leadership.
