DUBAI: Malaysia is currently entering the Restoration Movement Control Order (PKPP) phase which began on June 10 until August 31, 2020. This phase is certainly good news for the Malaysian tourism industry, because at this stage the new normal application will gradually be applied to domestic tourism first.

The travel consul, Hishamuddin Mustafa hopes that residents will always be disciplined in protecting themselves, wearing masks, washing their hands, keeping their distance, so that in this recovery phase new cases are not found, so that international entrances can be reopened.

He also mentioned the concept of travel bubbles that are being considered by countries such as New Zealand and Australia, which allow Australians and New Zealanders to travel between the two countries during the Covid-19 pandemic.

To get to the stage of implementing the travel bubble, it is necessary to have the confidence and trust of countries that agree that these countries no longer have many cases so that the risk of transmission is very small, such as Australia and New Zealand where the number of cases has been successfully controlled.

“In Indonesia, Aceh can become a region that implements travel bubbles. Because Aceh was in the green lane during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, after PKPP on August 31 in Malaysia, we will need to arrange the promotion strategies and programs to re-enact the tourism industry in these two neighboring regions, “he said.

Hishamuddin suggested that health tourism should be a priority for now. Many Acehnese have been detained for treatment in Penang during the Movement Control Order (PKP) phase to the Recovery Movement Control Command (PKPP) from March to August. Therefore, if travel bubbles can be applied between Aceh and Penang, this is certainly a good step to revive tourism between the two regions, especially health tourism.
