KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Airlines’ frequent flyer programme Enrich is rewarding members when they join local tours, activities and workshops with homegrown travel marketplace LokaLocal.

Enrich members will now be able to earn Enrich Miles when they participate in LokaLocal’s tours and activities, which encompasses cultural workshops, craft classes, heritage walks, cooking classes, private dining, adventure tours and social impact experiences.

To celebrate this partnership, members can earn 2X miles when they book on the LokaLocal website from 9 December 2019 until 31 February 2020.

LokaLocal is the largest marketplace in Malaysia focusing on connecting explorers to local experiences hosted by passionate locals, which aims to improve their outreach while creating job opportunities and preserving their cultures. The company currently has more than 500 activities and day tours across various states in Malaysia and Laos. Transportation arrangement, accommodation and group bookings are also available on the website.

This initiative will expose global travellers to alternative travel options beyond the usual sights and sounds, in support of Visit Malaysia 2020.

Malaysia Airlines Group Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Lau Yin May said, “Selecting the suitable reward partner to collaborate is key in ensuring we deliver the right products and experiences to our members. With the partnership with LokaLocal, Enrich members will be able to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with guided tours and local activities organised by Malaysians. LokaLocal also compliments our brand promise of Malaysian Hospitality, whereby members can immerse in authentic experiences and learn about Malaysia’s rich culture and heritage. This is in line with our Fly Malaysia campaign, where we promote Malaysia as the preferred destination for Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020).”

LokaLocal CEO Chin Yoon Khen said that the company is honoured to join forces with Malaysian Airlines to promote the unique attractions and hidden gems of Malaysia:  “LokaLocal’s partnership with Enrich is a great way to elevate the experience of travellers coming to Malaysia. They can benefit from exploring any destination like a local, whether is it batik painting, having a meal with a new friend or visiting Sungai Lima with a village chief.”

“Not only will Enrich members from around the world be able to earn points when they travel to Malaysia, they can make fun, once-in-a-lifetime memories just by doing so,” he added.

Some of the experiences Enrich members can enjoy include joining a jungle school with an indigenous tribesman, making pottery with an artisan, food tours, local cooking classes and uniquely-curated tour packages to various destinations across the country.

LokaLocal expects to unlock more local experience in multiple cities in 2020, as well as launch its mobile app by the end of February. To learn more, visit https://enrich.lokalocal.com/
