LAHORE: The Young Leaders Conference (YLC) entered its final two days with an immersive itinerary of keynote and panel sessions led by the best and brightest from development sectors, all looking to provide a fresh perspective on leadership.
The themes of the final two days of the YLC were Developmental Leadership and Social Action. The focus during these last two days of the YLC 2019 was the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship and the positive impact it has on young adults. The Champ of the day, Shireen Naqvi, founding member of YLC, gave her insightful views on the topic.
Shireen Naqvi, the founder of SOL while discussing about the development leadership mentioned the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in providing development stage to the developing countries. She said, “Innovation and entrepreneurship has lasting impact whereas initially the signs aren’t that evident. Even if the youth do not start their business, these entrepreneurial workshops play vital role in skill development. These workshops enhance the vision towards innovation and effectiveness.”
An introduction to Social Action Projects (SAP) was the last day’s theme and was moderated by Osama Nasir and Samia Afridi. Together they took the day forward with the 300 Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Activity. This dynamic activity introduced participants to the globally acclaimed RAK concept. After some quick ideas, participants are asked to do as many random act of kindness individually with strangers as they can in 20 minutes. They used #rakylc and posted about their Random Acts of Kindness.
Followed by the introduction to the SAP, success stories related to these initiatives were also shared by Osama Nasir and Samia Afridi. Particpants got the chance to meet some of these shining YLC stars who have set an example for YLCians to follow. These YLCian stars from the past have startled the world with their innovative, unique and original approach, ideas or solutions. The YLC Alumni achievements were celebrated and their journeys mapped out as participants got to witness a unique insight of each of them and their inspiring journeys towards success.
The last few hours of the conference were spent reminiscing, networking, sharing moments and the unforgettable memories formed within the span of the six days. The participants will list down the key issues of their own areas, building an accurate knowledge of what their communities actually looks like. This will enable them to establish for themselves what problems their community faces.
