Over 80 Emiratis passed HASAAD internal auditing training programme

DUBAI: The UAE Internal Auditors Association (UAE-IAA) is relentlessly continuing its drive in bringing in a qualitative change by training and qualifying the Emiratis to work in the Internal Auditing (IA) domain through a training programme that it launched in 2015.

The two-and-a-half-month HASAAD programme aims to strengthen the expertise of trainees, support their professional competencies and prepare them to deal with more professional responsibilities and challenges within their organisations.

More than 80 professionals have completed the programme in different batches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Currently, the percentage of UAE nationals, both males and females, in the internal auditing has reached over 22 per cent and their numbers are expected to double in the coming years.

The UAE-IAA, one of the fastest-growing associations for internal auditing in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, in December last year announced its intention to open the HASAAD to non-Emirati auditors whether residing in the country or outside. Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chairman of the UAE-IAA, said there has been an increase in the demand for internal auditors both within the country and outside due to the growing importance of internal auditors in both the governance and success of organisations.  Rapid changes are transforming the global economy due to digitization and technologies like blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internal Auditing has been updating itself with these changes. He called upon the Emiratis to join the field of Internal Auditing.

The UAE-IAA, in 2015, launched the HASAAD programme in line with the ‘Ebsher’ initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, with the aim to implement the Internal Audit Charter launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to qualify more Emiratis working in the government sectors and provide them with the necessary skills in this field.
