Innovative gel sealant enters UAE to prevent tyre bursts in soaring temperatures

DUBAI: Even the thought of a burst tyre in a moving vehicle, however rare, is enough to induce paranoia amongst motorists. And in an unfortunate event when a poorly-maintained tyre gives way, the consequences can be fatal — both for drivers and pedestrians.

As tyre punctures are dangerous, government agencies encourage drivers to check their tyres regularly to make sure that they are safe. Preventive anti-burst products are also another way of securing your tyre.

Tyre Protector, an innovative and advanced sealant that safeguards rubber tyres, has forayed into the United Arab Emirates to tackle this challenge head on. The product is a puncture sealant gel that is injected into tubeless, pneumatic tyres and fits all types of fleets — from large-scale industrial motor vehicles to private cars. It offers permanent guaranteed protection for the life of the tyre and comes into immediate force in the event of a burst tyre.

The non-hazardous, non-toxic and biodegradable sealant prevents punctures and blowouts and is suitable for all vehicles. The gel-like solution lasts until the legal lifetime of a tyre and also improves fuel efficiency on the road.

How it works

The centrifugal force of moving tyres spreads Tyre Protector evenly over the entirety of the internal tread area, coating the area with a 2 mm coating of sealant. And when a tyre that is treated with Tyre Protector encounters a sudden puncture, air pressure inside the tyre forces the gel into the wound, thus forming an instant and permanent repair.

Product of relentless R&D

The internationally-acclaimed, ISO-certified product is the result of research and dedication of Paul Butterworth, CEO of Tyre Protector. Butterworth identified the need for an effective sealant while working in the commercial vehicle industry. In his extensive experience, the sealants used in the industry were not fully reliable and didn’t allay concerns of many fleet owners and drivers

“The product we have in the form of Tyre Protector is a result of painstaking development in laboratories and tests done in the field,” said Paul Butterworth. Tyre Protector was first made available to public in 2003, and has since then gone through iterations and mock tests.

Butterworth continued: “It is used and praised by stakeholders globally. We have secured loyalty from government agencies, emergency services that run ambulances, construction firms and taxi fleets. The resilience and reliability of Tyre Protector has also earned it military contracts to protect their fleet from tyre mishaps.”

“We are excited to introduce this product for the first time in the UAE. The safety of motorists is at the heart of Tyre Protector’s journey over the years. Furthermore, the sealant lasts up to the lifetime of a tyre, resulting in financial savings for companies in the UAE that run large fleets.”

Protection against underinflation and heat

Underinflation, or using the tyre with less-than-optimal air pressure, is central to tyre blowouts and and excess tyre wear. It is sometimes caused by gradual loss of air through microscopic pores in rubber, which further generates excess heat and causes the tyre to burst. Tyre Protector’s advanced formulation eliminates that air loss and provides complete puncture protection, resulting in guaranteed protection both for the person behind the wheels and for other cars and pedestrians in close vicinity.

Paul Butterworth advised motorists in the UAE to constantly inspect their vehicle tyres: “Temperatures in the UAE can at times soar to the north of 45 degrees celsius. The hot road surface can deteriorate worn out tyres. They should be immediately replaced, especially before embarking on long road trips.”

Butterworth said motorists — both private owners and commercial owners of large fleets — can inject Tyre Protector into their tyre and achieve peace of mind.

“Using the gel sealant is highly effectively and economical way to ensure that nothing comes in between you and your destination on the road,” added Butterworth. News Desk
