Dubai South and Dubai Customs sign agreement to facilitate transactions for local and foreign companies

DUBAI: Dubai South, Dubai’s integrated city and flagship urban project, has signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Customs on providing electronic links to services aimed at facilitating the exchange of information of registered companies as well as enhancing the transactions and procedures between the two parties. The agreements, which were signed by H.E. Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South and H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, seek to strengthen partnership and cooperation between both parties by integrating initiatives that would enhance quality and excellence in the delivery of services.

By signing the two MoUs, Dubai South looks to improve services in Dubai in key business areas such as transport, aviation and logistics development. The first MoU sets the coordination and development of linking the electronic system of both parties to facilitate the exchange of information regarding registered companies and facilitate the transaction for permits and other approvals. The second MoU sets the agreement which will allow Dubai South’s Sales Force system with Dubai Customs’ Mirsal II system to facilitate issuance, collection and transfer of documents pertaining to the entry and exit of local and imported goods as well as provide mutual support to achieve common objectives.

H.E. Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman, Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South said: “The signing of the agreements is important in creating a stimulating environment in line with the logistical developments in Dubai and helps in streamlining procedures for the logistics companies in Dubai South and provide them with the best services, as well as enhances our cooperation and coordination with Dubai Customs in ensuring legal trade and protecting borders. We are confident that our partnership with Dubai Customs will strengthen our bilateral efforts to consolidate Dubai’s vision in making it one of the most important hubs in the world for ease of doing business, investments and entrepreneurship.”

Al Zaffin added: “The MOU with Dubai Customs is part of our efforts to adopt quality standards, excellence and innovation in all the latest projects being hosted by Dubai South, and to implement the emirate’s happiness goals in line with the Dubai Plan 2021. We are keen to adopt the best global practices in service delivery and promote Dubai South’s leading features including its strategic location ideal to set up a wide range of businesses, state-of-the-art facilities and smart services designed to make it easy and flexible for startups and other enterprises.”

H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Dubai Customs Directors said: “The Dubai Customs’ signing of the MoUs aims to facilitate the exchange of information with Dubai South, including providing access to customs information about companies and investors in both entities. This enables us to enhance cooperation and coordination that will help improve the performance and the level of commercial and customs services provided to customers, in line with the vision of H.H. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to ensure happiness by working towards providing the highest levels of technological development in government services and provide satisfaction and happiness to the society.”

He added: “We are keen to support the integration of services with strategic partners to ensure flexibility in procedures and ease of delivery of services, and thereby enhance the competitive advantages of Dubai in ease of doing business and attract new investments. This agreement further supports initiatives that drive economic growth in line with long-term development goals set under the UAE Centennial 2071 in accordance with the directives of the country’s wise leadership.

Established in 2006, Dubai South is the emirate’s integrated city and urban development project covering 145 square kilometers, including the Al Maktoum International Airport, the second international airport in Dubai.
